The Sidney Kimmel Center for Prostate and Urologic Cancers is a state-of-the-art outpatient facility offering comprehensive care for patients with prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers. At the Kimmel Center, patients can consult with physicians specializing in urologic surgery, medical oncology, and radiation oncology to determine the most appropriate and effective treatment for their individual conditions.

Located one block from Memorial Hospital and the Sloan-Kettering Institute, the Kimmel Center houses the clinical and academic programs of the Department of Urology and the Genitourinary Oncology Service. Maintaining these programs together in a dedicated facility fosters collaborative, multidisciplinary patient care and ensures that innovative new treatments are available to patients as quickly as possible.

The Kimmel Center offers a complete suite of patient services, including:

The John and Maxine Bendheim and Robert Bendheim Prostate Cancer Diagnostic Center is located within the Kimmel Center building and offers screening and evaluation for men at high risk for developing prostate cancer.

  • Treatment

At the Kimmel Center, chemotherapy is offered onsite as are hormonal and biologic therapies. Patients requiring surgery or radiation therapy receive these treatments at the main facility, which is across the street from the Kimmel Center. Through the clinical research program, new therapeutic agents for cancers that recur or progress are continually evaluated. Following a consultation with their treatment team, patients may also have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials of promising new treatments and therapies.

  • Survivorship

In addition to routine follow-up care after treatment, the Kimmel Center provides a range of wellness and cancer prevention resources. Services available to patients include identification and management of side effects; assessments to detect cancer recurrence; screening for other cancers; referrals for other medical conditions; and education, support, and referral for post-treatment psychosocial concerns.

  • Education

Experts are available to discuss any nutritional or sexual health concerns patients may have. Patients can consult with certified dietitian-nutritionists about dietary options and healthy eating while undergoing treatment. Physicians and counselors who specialize in sexual health problems related to cancer treatment help patients manage issues, such as erectile dysfunction or continence, that may follow certain treatments.

  • Counseling and Support

Psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers are available to speak with every patient to address their social, psychological, and practical needs. Counselors and support groups can help individuals, couples, and families evaluate the impact of treatment choices. Also, many Memorial Sloan-Kettering patients volunteer to share their experiences with other patients with similar diagnoses.

Learn how you can access information about your care

Memorial Sloan-Kettering has developed a secure Web site -- called MYMSKCC -- for Kimmel Center patients to access personalized information about their care. Patients who voluntarily enroll to use MYMSKCC can view and keep track of appointments; make changes to contact and insurance information; send and receive e-mail messages to and from their nurse; and view hospital bills.

To enroll in or learn more about MYMSKCC, please ask a session assistant in clinic or contact your physician's office.
