  • 29th Annual Memorial Sloan-Kettering Convocation Ceremony
    August 2008 - Memorial Sloan-Kettering's 29th annual Academic Convocation featured an address by New York Governor David A. Paterson and honored students receiving PhD degrees for work conducted in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's laboratories; younger Memorial Sloan-Kettering physicians, scientists, and postdoctoral research fellows; and established clinicians and investigators from the Center and beyond.
  • Samuel and May Rudin Awards Recognize Excellence in Nursing at Memorial Sloan-Kettering
    August 2008 - The 2008 Samuel and May Rudin Awards for Excellence in Nursing recognized five Memorial Sloan-Kettering nurses and a patient care technician for exemplary service in patient care in various categories.
  • An Interview with Ronald DeMatteo
    August 2008 - Two years ago, Dr. DeMatteo became Vice Chair of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Department of Surgery and Head of the department's Division of General Surgical Oncology. In these roles, and as director of the fellowship training program in general surgical oncology, he combines a passion for surgery and laboratory research with an enthusiasm for mentoring young clinicians and scientists.

    August 2008 - At ASCO's annual meeting this year, six promising physicians who are beginning their careers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering received Young Investigator Awards.

    August 2008 - As part of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's CancerSmart community lecture series, more than 150 members of the public gathered in the Rockefeller Research Laboratories Auditorium on May 1 to hear two Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center oncologists discuss diagnosis, current treatments, and new therapies for pancreatic and esophageal cancers.

    August 2008 - Therapy dogs -- dogs trained to provide comfort to hospital patients and individuals in other care facilities -- and their handlers have been visiting patients in Memorial Hospital since the program's inception in October 2007.

  • Jason Lewis Joins Memorial Sloan-Kettering as Chief of the Radiochemistry Service
    August 2008 - Jason Lewis has joined the Center as Chief of the Radiochemistry Service in the Department of Radiology and an Associate Member in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He also holds an appointment in Sloan-Kettering Institute's Molecular Pharmacology and Chemistry Program and is the Director of the Cyclotron-Radiochemisty Core facility.
  • Simon Powell Named Chair of Radiation Oncology
    August 2008 - Simon N. Powell has joined Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. He is also a Member in Sloan-Kettering Institute's Molecular Biology Program and the incumbent of the Enid A. Haupt Chair in Radiation Oncology.
  • Isabelle Rivière Named Director of New Cell Engineering Facility
    August 2008 - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center has announced that investigator Isabelle Rivière has been appointed Director of the newly created Cell Therapy and Cell Engineering Facility (CTCEF).

    August 2008 - Victor E. Reuter, Vice Chair of the Department of Pathology and Co-Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Pathology Core Facility, has assumed the presidency of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
